Photographer Georgianna Lane has released her 14th book, Beautiful Blooms, a collection spanning two decades of her floral photography. The book, published in May, marks a personal milestone for the artist, who has spent her career capturing the subtle beauty of flowers and gardens.

Lane first discovered photography through her family. “My parents were amateur photographers, so cameras were always around,” she said. “I grew up with it.” Her professional shift toward florals came later, after leaving a corporate job. The decision felt both intentional and unplanned.

From corporate life to floral focus

After stepping away from her previous career, Lane tried various subjects—buildings, people, and outdoor scenes. “I soon realized I needed to specialize,” she said. Flowers stood out as an obvious choice. At first, she knew little about them, but her curiosity led her to study different species and the best ways to photograph them.

Her work has taken her to gardens and parks. “I visit gardens and parks often,” she said. While living in the U.S., her own garden was her main source of ideas. After relocating to Paris, she found new material in the city’s public parks.

A book born from an anniversary

Beautiful Blooms emerged unexpectedly. Lane had considered an exhibition to celebrate her floral photography. When her publisher suggested a book instead, the project expanded beyond her original vision. “I included some of my earliest images,” she said. Some photographs in the collection date back 20 years, showing how her style has developed over time.

The book serves a deeper purpose than simply displaying her work. Lane calls it a “haven of calm,” offering readers an escape from daily pressures. “You can open it, wander through gardens from around the world, and find a moment of peace,” she said.

Lane’s book can be found in bookstores and online. For those interested in floral photography, her approach reflects how artists find themselves in their subjects.
